I’ve been writing since I was 16 years old. My first stories were about ridiculous situations involving normal people. At the time I posted on my blog and Myspace (that’s a hint to my age), and got a little bit of a following. I wrote a few pieces that got published in niche and local magazines, and I was delighted when one of my stories on a fanfiction site got close to a hundred interactions! [Yeah, I know that’s nothing - but young me was delighted] However, life got in the way: I went to University, got a job, met my wonderful partner, had kids. My writing took a back seat, but the ideas kept on coming.

As a way to claw back some of my self purpose, I started experimenting with my writing again, and I discovered something… there was this dark little corner of my mind that needed an outlet that just reading and real life couldn’t satisfy.

Which is how I began my journey into spice and erotica.

And, oh boy, I just can’t stop myself.

One of the things I love most about writing and storytelling is crafting plots and scenarios. I’d previously dismissed erotica as something that was only focused on the act and nothing else. But then I started reading on a whim back in 2018, and I soon discovered that there is so much more going on than just two (or more) people going at it. The psychology and philosophy behind human want, need and fantasies gripped me just as much as the smut; and that’s when I started thinking more about what is really going on in a scene or an erotica story.

I hope a bit of that fascination comes out in the stories I write.

Outside of writing I enjoy: reading (of course!) some romance and erotica, but largely fantasy; spending time with my family; visiting local cafes; experimenting with new hobbies or experiences (we try and dedicate a day each month to doing something new); board games (love my local board game cafe); learning new things (I’ve just finished my 4th degree!); and going to the cinema.

I love stories like Discworld, or anything written by Stephen King, where the stories take place in a fictionized world that mirrors our own.

I have tried to write stories set in real life locations, but sometimes it is quite limiting. I know that a skilled writer will take what is there and shape their stories around it - and perhaps I would do that if I were writing full time…

But in the meantime, I’ve created my own fictional US State complete with towns, cities, a history, culture. It’s called Rosedew State.

Setting all my stories in this location will provide a bridge between stories, allow for characters from one to appear in another, and hopefully mean that readers who are interested in my stories might get little nuggets from each one that creates their own view of the State in their minds. It also is a lot of fun for me, creating this mini world with rules and customs straight out of my own head.

This also gets around the idea of ‘serializing’ romance. I sometimes feel with some writers that the need to have 5 books to tell the relationship of one couple feels too forced. I don’t want to do that (unless a truly good idea comes to mind).

So hopefully, you’ll come to learn and love Rosedew as much as I have creating it.

I admit, I’ve probably spent too much time building this State when really I should have been writing the stories. But it was fun!
